Last year I found that my sister, with whome I hadn’t spoken for a long time had been ordained as a priest in the Anglican Church. This didn’t surprise me as I had always expected her to take that direction in her life.
So, what would more natural than for me to carve her a belated ordination gift and what more suitable than a cross. Those of you who know my work will probably guess that style of cross I chose was a bit more organic and simple in theme than the more ornate crosses often seen as items of jewellery. So I chose a piece of oak and set to with saw and the knives.
This lump of wood ultimately became this:




This is beautiful! Well executed, and very appropriate for a minister.
