A few months ago whilst walking the dog in Rothay Park, Ambleside we came across a recently finished chainsaw carving in a fallen oak tree. Only later did we find that this sculpture now forms part of an extensive children’s area within the park that has now been finished.![]()

Anyway, on the ground under the sculpture was a pile of chippings and slivers of oak. Because the work had been carried out with a chainsaw some of these were quite sizeable. and one found it’s way into my pocket.
A few months later and some application of a sharp edge here and there has resulted in my first coffee scoop which has just had it’s first coating of linseed oil and is nearly ready to go to it’s new home.![]()
