Well, I’ve been playing again, an hour of heating bashing grinding and honing got me this little baby kiridashi.
It’s got a bevel on each side so technically not a true Kiridashi but I love this little piece of sharp steel already.
The eagle eyed among you will notice it’s made from a round file. It has been hand forged and ground by eye so has a rustic and rough look to it. I’ve hardened it but not tempered because, to be honest I like it that way.
I read comments from some people complaining about how much work is needed to sharpen a really hard edge but my response would be that if you aren’t willing to put some work into it then you don’t deserve a sharp edge.
I’ll keep playing with this one for a while and post a bit of a review sometime soon
