OK, so I’ve been sketching out a few ideas and have come up with a rather old hat take on the tree frog idea.
The Frog is climbing through a curled up leaf.

The leaf curls up around him with the stem curling right over to form an eye to hang him up.
His backside and rear legs stick out toward the rear but his rear feet are both fully on the inside of the leaf.
His front hands are holding the leading edge of the leaf with his fingers curled over it.
I’ve done my best to rough out what I think he will look like but ultimately I work a lot better in 3d than 2d and the drawings I do are more to fix an idea of shape in my mind. The actual carving process will developed the shape as I go along.
I have a rectangular piece of Box which I’ll use, it’s 45mm x 35mm which should give me a diameter for the curled leaf of around 32mm.
Ignore the drawing on it I once thought to do a small Celtic cross pendant out of it
So, he’s going to be quite a small little guy. I’m intending for the leaf to be quite clearly defined around the outside so it really is obvious that it’s a leaf. The Frog will be smooth and less defined apart from that eye that looks right at you.
Oh well. Here goes……
